Our team brings more than 37 years of sailmaking experience, along with a long background in sailing that began in dinghies and continued through Olympic categories. That blend of practical craft and sailing knowledge guides everything we do, from choosing the right materials to refining shape and finishing details. Our story: from “Yacht-Care Sailmakers” to Banks Sails Greece

 

Banks Sails Greece was founded in 1987 by Spyros and Dimitris - two champions with multiple World, European and National Cup titles. Starting under the name Yacht-Care Sailmakers, the twins began with a few sewing machines and a serious obsession with doing things properly.

They built sails the same way they raced: with attention to detail, relentless refinement and a refusal to accept “good enough.” As they continued competing with top teams of the era, they promoted their work the most honest way possible: by letting results speak.

A key chapter in that journey was Spyros’ role as a crew member for George Andreadis, further strengthening the team’s presence and credibility within the international sailing community.
Joining Banks Sails: the 2008 milestone

In 2008, their reputation and craftsmanship led to a major step: an invitation to join Banks Sails, a world-renowned sailmaker based in Italy.

That partnership expanded what we could offer: combining local expertise and service with access to broader design knowledge and top-tier product development. The result: international-grade sails, built and supported in Greece.
The next generation: performance continues

In 2020, the next generation stepped in. Spyros continued alongside his twin sons:  George and Stratis - highly ranked in world championship fleets and winners of numerous national titles.

Today, Stratis, George and Spyros are still active on the water, racing among the top Greek professional teams. Their results underline the point: this loft isn’t run by “salespeople who used to sail once.” It’s run by sailors who compete, tune, learn and bring that knowledge straight back into the sailmaking process.

Recent achievements include:

• 17 cups in 2022 and 3rd place in the 1st Division
• 19 cups in 2023
• 15 cups in 2024

Winning isn’t the only goal. But it’s a very good quality check.
