Skipper Claudio Arborea’s statement:
“It was a very technical race for us, characterized, for better or worse.. by numerous wind shifts. The upwind leg to Elba allowed the boat to fully express its potential, pulling away from the entire fleet right from the start!
Unfortunately, the night was not kind to us, as the very light wind prevented us from leaving Pianosa to starboard, forcing us to sail a much longer route. Our fierce opponents did not miss the opportunity to close the gap and overtake us. From there, a new race began for us as we fought back, culminating only when we passed Giglio.
Certainly, the weather conditions did not allow us to improve the course record we hold so dear, but we are nonetheless very satisfied with the team’s work and how the boat performed throughout the race.
Our heartfelt congratulations go to our opponents, who gave us a run for our money right up to the final miles, even with smaller boats.
